Teheri Dam
The Tehri dam in Uttarakhand is the highest dam in India, the second-highest in Asia, and the 8th highest in the world.

- The dam has been constructed on the Mahanadi in Sambalpur Orissa.
- This construction started in 1948 and was completed in 1957.

- It was one of the major multipurpose river valley schemes in post-independence India.
- The installed power plant has a capacity of 347 MW.
4. Sardar Sarovar Dam
- This dam is also known as Narmada Dam which is built on the sacred Narmada River in Gujarat.
- The height of the dam is 138.68 meters (163 meters from the foundation)
- The length is 1210 meters.
- It is a gravity-type dam.
- It has an effective storage capacity of 5.80 km3.
- The installed capacity of the power plant is 1450 MW.
5. Indira Sagar Dam
- The foundation stone of the project was laid by the late Mrs. Indira Gandhi.
- The height of Indra Sagar Dam is 92 meters.
- The length is 653 meters.
- The project was completed in 2005 on the Narmada River in Madhya Pradesh.
- It is a gravity concrete dam.
- The installed capacity of the power plant is 1000 MW.
- It is the largest dam in India in terms of water storage capacity.
